Suburbs In My Mind

As I walk in the morning sun
Under its sweltering rays
I get myself thinking on
How it must be in olden days
To walk along a milieu vast
To witness radiant rays
To see a thrill run in me
Which is why my body says,
“Go on walking little legs
To roads unknown and wild
To ancient and to willing lands
To lands that are exiled!"

For city I dwell is highly tamed
With wilderness no more,
Mechanical order herein chants
A dreary humdrum lore,
So, like an ecstatic ant, I walk
To suburbs in my mind
For mind it is that travels well
To wilderness left behind!
